Player Fees: There is no cost ($0.00) for Adult Players to complete the required Safe Soccer Phase 1 training.

Step 1 - CPL REGISTRATION

If you have not already, please complete your official CPL Staff or Player Registration.

STAFF & PLAYER REQUIREMENTS

Legal Identification: All registrants must use their full legal first and last name to ensure background check, SafeSport, and insurance validity.

US Soccer Learning Center: If you have an existing account with the US Soccer Learning Center, you must use the same email address for this registration.

Our system connects to the US Soccer Learning Center to automatically verify coaching licenses, SafeSport status, and player Safe Soccer clearances. Using a different email will result in verification failure.

Step 2 - USSSA BACKGROUND CHECK

HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR USSSA BACKGROUND CHECK (STAFF ONLY)

STAFF/COACHES: This section is REQUIRED.

PLAYERS: You DO NOT need a background check. Please skip directly to Step 3 for your Safe Soccer Clearance requirements.

To Start the Process, click here.

Log in and click the Dashboard button to view your requirements or the "Register" button next to your name and select "Coach".

Step 1: Apply and pay for your USSSA background check.

Step 2: Complete the emailed QuickApp request within 24 hours of receipt.

Note: For more detailed information regarding the background check process, please click here.

Step 3 - SAFE SOCCER PHASE 1

STEP 3: SAFESPORT & SAFE SOCCER CLEARANCE (REQUIRED FOR BOTH STAFF & ADULT PLAYERS)

Mandatory For: This requirement applies to ALL Staff and ADULT Players (18+) rostered on teams with minor athletes.

Safe Soccer Phase 1: Access the required Phase 1 training via the US Soccer Learning Center (click here).

CRITICAL EMAIL REQUIREMENT:

Adult Players and Staff  must use the same email address associated with their US Soccer Learning Center account. To check your account email, click here.

This ensures your Safe Soccer Clearance and SafeSport status syncs correctly. Using a different email will prevent automatic verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: I have a background check as a coach/manager for ECNL, WPL, or WYS (or another affiliate). Do I still have to complete this background check?

A:Yes. Unfortunately, background checks from other affiliates do not meet USSSA’s specific national requirements. To be rostered in the Cascadia Premier League, you must complete the USSSA background check steps as outlined above.

Q: I think I completed the process for the USSSA background check. Can you tell if it is done?

A: When logged into your USSSA GotSport account Dashboard, you should see entries marked as "Pending" or "Fulfilled". Note that our current season takes place during the 25/26 season; you do not need to worry about the 26/27 season column at this time. See the reference image below.

Q: I cannot find Safe Soccer on the website. How do I find it?

A: On the U.S. Soccer Learning Center site, you will be able to click on "Safe Soccer" at the top of the screen. See the image below for reference.

Q: What specifically do I need to complete on the US Soccer Learning Center site?

A: You will want to complete Safe Soccer Phase 1. See the image below of the section you should be completing.

Q: Do I have to do Phases 2 and 3?

A:No. Do not complete Phases 2 and 3. Only complete Phase 1. See the reference image below.
