Women's Playoff Format

CPL Women’s CONFERENCE Format

3 Divisions | 4 Playoff Spots

The CPL Women’s Conference format is designed to ensure fairness, competitive balance, and meaningful matches throughout the season, culminating in the Northwest Champions Cup.

Regular Season Format

Columbia Division: Teams compete within their division in a round-robin format. The 1st Place finisher qualifies for the playoffs.

Baker & Rainier Divisions: Each division plays a round-robin within their own division. Official division standings are based only on these intra-division matches.

Crossover Matches & The Wildcard

To enhance competition, teams in the Baker and Rainier divisions each play two crossover matches against teams from the opposite division.

  • Division Competition: All crossover matches are tracked in a combined "Baker vs. Rainier" table (3 pts for a win, 1 pt for a draw).
  • The Reward: The division with the most total points across all crossover games earns the Wildcard Playoff Spot.
  • The Wildcard Team: Awarded to the highest-ranking team from the winning crossover division that has not already clinched 1st place.

Playoff Qualification

Four teams qualify for the Northwest Champions Cup:

Columbia Div. Winner
Baker Div. Winner
Rainier Div. Winner
Wildcard Team

Semi-Final Structure (July 17)

The bracket is determined by which division earns the Wildcard to avoid same-division matchups:

Scenario A: Baker earns Wildcard
  • Rainier Winner vs. Baker Wildcard
  • Baker Winner vs. Columbia Winner
Scenario B: Rainier earns Wildcard
  • Baker Winner vs. Rainier Wildcard
  • Rainier Winner vs. Columbia Winner
Competition Principles: This format ensures fair standings, adds value to every match, and rewards both intra-division consistency and inter-division performance.
